Eat More Fish To Lower Risk of Diabetes

Researchers from the UK looking at over 20,000 participants in the EPIC- Norfolk trial over 10 years have found that eating fish regularly decreased the risk of diabetes, unfortunately eating shell fish more than twice a week increased risk.

Take Home Message:

Enjoy both white and oily fish as part of a healthy diet on a regular basis (twice a week) and eat shellfish in moderation.

  1. This reminds me that I haven't cooked fish in quite some time...should fix that!

Re my enchilada recipe, I would be super happy if you published it on the Organic Meat website w/a link to my site. Thanks! Email me if you need anything extra other than my post. orchidgirl1979 at gmail

  3. This post is a great reminder to have fish more often. I think too often we get scared off by the pollutants article and dismiss eating all fish.
    Kudos Rebecca!

  4. I'm pretty big on fish. So I think I've been on the right track.

  10. Totally agree with you . Nice topic.

  11. These rules are so hard to keep up with. Now, I know pregnant women aren't supposed to eat much fish or at least certain kinds. Fortunately, that is not my problem :) We eat fish at least once a week!

  12. viki: thanks
    susan you are doing great
    kenny: oh me to!

  13. Totally agree with you that eating fish is good for health. My family loves fish.

  14. There is a history of diabetes on my husbands side of the family so i am always worrying about it and try to keep his sugar in take under check as I would be terrified if he got the condition due to genetic predisposition ... Thanks Rebecca, I never knew fish would help.

  15. Speaking as a diabetic who is allergic to fish.... I think I may be screwed. Oh well.

  16. Fish is good for our health. But the way we made them also effected our health. Try not to deep fry. The best way is either baked or steamed them.
