Give Kids Healthier Choices: They May Just Choose Them!

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/16/health/16well.html?ref=health

Research shows that kids are choosing more yogurt, grilled sandwiches and fruit at fast food restaurants, cola and hamburgers are down. This is a little ray of light in the dim reality of the alarming levels of childhood obesity.
Maybe if healthier choices are also offered at home and dare I say only healthy choices for example would you like a banana, a fruit smoothie or cereal for a snack. Our children would eat better.

Its great that the fast food chains are providing healthier choices so if folks are ready to take charge of their health its easier to do it when eating out.

  2. It's a relief to hear that......
I believe a fruit smoothie is a nice start to get the kids to eat more fruit. They are much like a melting off ice cream.

  5. I couldn't agree more. Growing up with a nurse for a mother really helped me out in a lot of ways. She always had fruits, vegetables, and healthy grains around at all times. I will do the same with my kids, it's such an easy concept, if only more people did it.

  6. When my daughter gets home from school she can have any vegetable and any fruit she wants. I find this is the best time to get vegetables into her and my younger one. They go carrot, pepper, celery, cucumber crazy! Makes me so happy!

  8. I couldn't agree more! I really try to promote healthier eating at home. I always have fruits and veggies on hand for snacks and I love that when you do go to fast food restaurants, they now offer things such as apples, mandarin oranges, etc (depending on the chain), instead of french fries!

  10. I definitely agree :) Also, I never make my kids "special" meals. Whatever I prepare for dinner is what they must eat.
