Chocolate Orange Madeleines

I made these Madeleines last week, I added orange juice and cocoa as one of my favorite chocolates is Terry's Chocolate orange so I thought it would make a cool version of a Madeleine. They turned out really well lovely and moist and didn't last long :-), thats why I don't bake all the time to practice portion control!

What's your favorite candy bar and have you ever made a cake to copy it?

Ingredients:
  • 2 eggs
  • 75g sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 90g flour (about a cup)
  • 3g of baking soda
  • grated zest of 1/2 a lemon
  • 1/2 a cup of orange juice
  • 90g melted butter, still liquid but cold
  • one spoon of runny honey
  • a few drops of vanilla essence
  • 2 tablespoons of cocoa
Method:
  1. melt the butter and keep it to one side
  2. whip the eggs with sugar and salt then slowly add the sifted flour and baking powder, lemon and vanilla essence and orange juice .
  3. Mix until smooth then add the melted butter, cocoa and honey and leave to chill for 30 minutes or longer
  4. bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees.

Help yourself everyone and have a wonderful weekend, I hope it cools down a little here, I really need to be a morning person and get up early to enjoy walking without melting!

Jasmine and I are going to a local pow wow (Native American get together) with friends should be fun love the clothes, dancing and jewelry. Hope they have food, but everything involves food with me!

  4. Hi, Rebecca. I do like chocolate and orange together, but my favourite chocolate bar is Butterfinger. It could be good, chopped up, in a chocolate cake, with a peanut-buttercream icing?!

I just posted about madeleines, based on my grandmother's recipe. Maybe there is something in the (very hot) air these days....

    Thanks,

    Dan
