How to Make Chapatti

Last week I made homemade chapatti and so happy it worked look in the background as little Jasmine plays with the dough she even rolled a little one. To me this is what valentines is all about cooking a special meal for folks you love :-)

Unfortunately today I am sick with a cough and fever, my valentines gift is that some kind person is covering hubby's shift so her can stay to help me ;-)

love you all

  1. Oh, goodness Rebecca you are so cute! So is your daughter, but you steal the show ;) Chapatis are made very much like flour tortillas, then! I didn't realize that. How fun!

  21. hello Rebecca, my first time on your blog and it was lovely seeing you making chapattis :-). We make & eat chapatti/ roti's 365 days a year and it is our daily bread. I'd like to add a few tips which may help you make them better.. if you are adding yogurt in your chapatti's then you can use milk instead of water while kneading the dough. Also add half a teaspoon of baking powder so it will rise easily and you will not have to make much effort to get them to puff up.

I dont use either of the ingredients I mentioned in our daily chappati making routine. We just use whole wheat flour, salt and water to make the dough. Roast them on the tawa or griddle and put them direct on the flame. Each one would take not more than a few seconds to cook. We call this a phulka. Very similar to a roti/ chapatti. Chapatti is make with oil and roti is without oil. Though they all belong to the same bread family.

Dont know if these tips will help you. All the luck.

I have recently launched a food blog 'tothesenses.com. Hope you take a peek and share your views on it.
    Hope you get better soon.

    cheers Irin
